Frequently Asked Questions

  • You’re in the right place! If you are trying to find a way to improve a part of your life, but you don’t know how, a therapist can help–whether or not therapy is the answer. Your therapist can help you figure out if therapy is a good fit for you or if there’s someone else (life coach, academic advisor, spiritual leader) who could better help you, depending on your needs.

  • Yeah! Starting therapy can feel scary, especially because there’s still some stigma around it. But once you start, it should not take long for you to recognize that your therapist cares, and it shouldn’t take long for you to begin healing. Remember that it’s okay to switch therapists, too! Jump in and don’t wait. Start therapy here at Komi or at another clinic–what matters to us is that you get the help you need.

  • Therapy can be expensive, but there are lots of ways to get mental health care regardless of your financial situation. It might just require some extra steps. If you want therapy with us, doing it through insurance, applying to participate in research,  or getting a scholarship are all helpful options. If you’re okay getting therapy anywhere, there are plenty of government programs and facilities that offer therapy for free. If you don’t know how to get therapy you can afford, reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to help you find a solution!

  • One of the most important elements of picking a therapist is finding one that you like who matches your personality. Just start meeting with someone and see what you think! Beyond personality, you can look for someone who has a specialty that matches your needs. If you’re unsure who to meet with, just reach out to our office staff and they will be glad to guide you.

  • Of course! You should switch therapists as often as you need. You can even switch as early as after the first session. We want people to fit well with their therapist, so your therapist won’t be surprised or offended if you want to switch. This is really normal, and we’ll be excited you are advocating for yourself. Just reach out to the staff or talk directly with your therapist and they will get you taken care of!

  • We have a lot of fun! Komi is not just a therapy clinic–we’re a community.
When you get involved you’ll feel like you’re part of our tribe. There are a lot of resources we provide for free because we care–and you don’t even have to be a client to get involved. We are always trying out new ways to get engaged with the community, and we’re always very excited to hear what you need and want. If you want to improve your quality of life both inside and outside of therapy, we’re the clinic for you!

  • The norm is once a week because that’s easy to schedule, but depending on your needs and wants, we’ll make recommendations. You can also adjust session frequency as often as you need. We want to make sure you are getting the support you need and also are able to maintain independence, so your therapist can make a plan with you to do both.

  • We are located at 2230 North University Pkwy, 2C, Provo, UT 84604. Looking forward to seeing you!

  • Absolutely! We have therapists licensed across most states in the US so you can absolutely meet with a therapist online. Reach out to us if you are interested in therapy and live in a state outside of Utah, and it is very likely we’ll have a therapist who can meet with you.

  • Yes! We take most HSA accounts and some EAP accounts. We also take private pay.
