Ryan Roberts, CMHC

Founder and Therapist

ADHD and executive function are my specialties. I primarily work with adolescents and adults with a focus on improving functionality and performance in some aspect of their lives while also reducing shame. Practicing self-acceptance and compassion while also focusing on self-improvement and growth can be a tough balance to navigate, but it is one that I love to work on with clients.

I teach counseling and research methods at UVU and love working with students as they become clinicians. I continue to conduct research and always have multiple projects including improving academic accommodations for ADHD students, making emotional support animals more accessible for clients, and improving trauma-informed care in mental health clinics.

I enjoy playing games and implementing game theory into business, reading (both non-fiction and fiction), ballroom dance, and using my clinical skills in the community in helpful ways such as business, teaching, and therapy.

Rodrigo A. Veas-Wall, Ph.D., Psychologist

Clinical Director

  • As Clinical Director at Komi Counseling, my role is to make sure that the care you receive here is thoughtful, consistent, and grounded in what the research shows actually works. I oversee our clinical standards, guide the development of treatment programs, and support every clinician on our team through training, consultation, and mentorship. Whether you work with me directly or with another therapist at Komi, I am personally invested in the quality of your experience. I also lead our hiring and training efforts, which means I have a hand in selecting and developing the people who will be part of your care.

I love accompanying people on their journeys as they work to find meaning, engagement, and connection. In our sessions, I aim to create a space where you can step back and observe everything that shapes your experience — and while I will work to help reduce your symptoms, my focus is on helping people clarify what they value and find the motivation to move forward, even in the face of adversity.

  • I hold a doctorate in Counseling Psychology. I started my career in a college counseling center, where I provided individual therapy and ran groups focused on anxiety and sexual concerns, which gave me a deep understanding of the challenges young adults face as they navigate identity, relationships, and independence. Since then, I have spent over a decade in outpatient practice providing therapy and conducting psychological and neuropsychological assessments for individuals across the lifespan. A through line in my work has always been diagnostic clarification — helping people get an accurate understanding of what is going on so they can get the right support. I was born in Santiago, Chile, and grew up across Chile, Venezuela, and the United States. I am a native speaker of both English and Spanish and provide therapy and assessments in both languages.

  • I have been providing therapy and psychological assessments for adults, teenagers, and children since 2011. In this time, I have worked in a broad range of settings with a variety of populations and can effectively work with most mental health concerns. My areas of expertise include working with people navigating anxiety, depression, questions about faith and spirituality, sexuality (including pornography use), men's mental health, and LGBTQ+ experiences. I also specialize in diagnostic and neuropsychological testing to help clarify what is going on and build a treatment plan that actually fits. My preferred approaches are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), though my main goal is always to provide personalized treatment rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

  • Outside of the office, I enjoy baking sourdough bread (I will happily share my starter with anyone who asks), tending to my aquariums and plants, playing tabletop RPGs and complicated video games, and working on whatever DIY project has my attention — currently finishing my basement. I love stories and storytelling, and I have been a panelist at FanX on the impact of media and stories on mental health. We share our home in Utah with two dogs, Siggy and Odin, and two cats, Orpheus and Poe.

Abby Byrne

Operations Director

I have been working in billing, reception, and mental health administration since 2020. I have experience working with private-pay clients, third-party billing, and insurance, including obtaining authorizations and navigating the appeals process.

When not at work, I study Psychology at Utah Valley University and am getting involved in psychological research. I plan on eventually becoming a licensed psychologist.

In my free time, I enjoy reading fiction/fantasy, listening to loud music, and snuggling my cats.
